Daniel Sanchez & Kabale und Liebe
It was one of the suprise hits of 2007: 'Mumbling yeah' by Kabale Und Liebe & Daniel Sanchez - a track that was picked up by all the major dj's, from Richie Hawtin and Ricardo Villalobos to Loco Dice, Marco Carola, Adam Beyer and Luciano.
This Amsterdam production, recorded and produced in the studio of Kabale Und Liebe with vocals by Daniel Sanchez was released on the new Area Remote-label and became one of the biggest worldwide hits of the year. As online music magazine Resident Advisor wrote: 'A loose, rippling drum pattern and shards of Daniel Sanchez's staccato vocals roll out over ten glorious minutes, as the track burrows its way deep into your brain...there are few house tracks in recent years that have combined vocals and digital production to such dazzling effect, and the result is a bona-fide house record that still has a touch of the minimal about it. Or to put it another way, a record that is both classic and new sounding at the same time.... Watching floors react over the ten minutes is quite odd, as one by one they are slayed by the rhythm. Eventually, by the time Sanchez is left alone on vocals in the sparsest of breakdowns, the entire club is completely hooked.'
'Mumbling yeah' seemed to have come out of nowhere. It was actually the first time producer Kabale Und Liebe (Liron van Daalen, one of the major talents of the Amsterdam house- and techno-underground) and vocalist Daniel Sanchez (dj and organiser of the Rotzooii and Blabla parties) recorded a track together.
But the duo have been friends for a long time and even before 'Mumbling yeah' regularly deejayed together - playing great back to back-sets on parties like Welcome to the Future. The combination of Sanchez' driving grooves and Kabale Und Liebe's subtle mix of house and techno make them a great dj-team. They have fun behind the decks, push each other to great heights, while injecting new energy with every next record.
This is the new sound of Amsterdam: deep, groovy and irresistable.
Meanwhile, the follow up of 'Mumbling yeah', 'Singing wineglass' is already in the can. But before that, remixes of this great 2007-anthem by Loco Dice and Marco Carola wil hit the dancefloors soon.
