Minimal Eindhoven All Stars (Makcim + EL-P + Minidell)

MAKCIM - Just like the vodka from his birthplace, Moscow-born Dutch-resident MAKCIM always fuels the party spirit with his intoxicating and powerful sets, mixing house and techno to create refreshingly deep and sexy grooves. And when he’s not inspiring the clubbing crowds from the vinyl decks, you’ll find him releasing quality tunes on Amsterdam imprint Remote Area, together with his music partner-in-crime... Managemend.



A colourful childhood in Russia, painted with the sounds of Joy Division, Talking Heads, Depeche Mode, Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Blondie, Pink Floyd as well as jazz greats Miles Davis and Marcus Miller, meant that by the time MAKCIM moved to the Netherlands, at the age of 12, he knew music was going to be a huge part of his life.



By 1996, inspired by the house scene, he started buying records each week and by 1999 at the age of 20, he got his first residency in a bar in Eindhoven. At the same time he began organising illegal parties and together with friends and founded a new platform called ‘Minimal Eindhoven’ which became fundamental to the Dutch house & techno scene.



In 2008, Amsterdam imprint, Remote Area, welcomed MAKCIM together with his music partner in crime, Managemend (aka Roel van Otterdijk), into the fold with the release of their first EP “Lithe”. Their collaborative genius was a powerful mix, blending MAKCIM’s perfection for cool and funky rhythms with Managemend’s brilliance for creating chunky, deep, soulful loops. It’s therefore no surprise that they’ve since been regular guests on the label with their 2nd EP ‘Red Aglet’ and track “Hid” released on the label’s debut album in 2009, then again in 2010 with the release of their EPs “Boyism” and “Fur Cage”.



Each release unique, but always taking you on a quality sound journey to the deeper, funkier side of techhouse life with sexed up steamy vocal snippets and chunky rolling rhythms which continue to tick all the right boxes for the DJ likes of Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Paco Osuna, Riva Starr, Ilario Alicante, Noir, 2000 and One….



And now, when MAKCIM is not in the studio with neighbour, friend and production partner Managemend crafting new tunes and perfecting their ‘soon to happen’ live set – he can be seen and heard spinning vinyl at Berlin’s Watergate, Club der Visionaere and Arena club as well as in party hotspots across Moscow, Munich and Copenhagen.



Closer to home you’ll find him moving the Dutch clubbing crowds with long and sexy sets at venues such as Melkweg, Paradiso, Studio 80 and Trouw, as well as being a regular at festival greats such as Lowlands, Awakenings, Voltt, 5 Days Off, Static, Innercity, Mysteryland and Welcome to the Future Festival.



With new releases and gigs in the 2011 pipeline and a live set with Managemend planned soon – it’s as clear as vodka that if you want to get funked up, then MAKCIM will mix you a perfect cocktail of house and techno tunes for deep and long all night party play.



MINIDELL - (echte naam Gijs Brink), geboren in 1980 te Eindhoven.

Sinds 1996 verzeilt geraakt in de wereld van muziek. Begonnen in een kroegje op het roemruchte Stratumseind. Veel ruimte voor eigen initiatief was er niet. Zoals het gaat met muziek begon Minidell bepaalde soorten van elektronische muziek te ontdekken en begon voor hem de muzikale "lijdensweg" welke verandert van dag tot dag.

Na zijn vertrek bij zijn eerste officiële draaiplek (199, lagen zijn interesses vooral bij stevige evenals diepe klanken. Hierdoor maakte Minidell zijn entree in de Eindhoven underground scene. Eindhoven is een stad met niet al te veel ruimte voor variatie op uitgaansgebied (Effenaar uitgezonderd). Echter op het illegale vlak werd er veel ondernomen. Met het draaien op dergelijke feesten is dan ook zijn lokale bekendheid verworven.

Nog altijd blijft Minidell zoekende naar de ultieme sound die bij hem past. Dit resulteert in gevarieerde sets met uitstapjes naar andere genres. Toen hij in 2001 kennis maakte met een bepaalde soort muziek, wist hij echter zeker dat dat de rode draad ging vormen tijdens zijn sets. De minimale, stoere en sexy beats welke op

een rustig tempo toch continu verrassend door blijven rollen. Zo min mogelijk overbodige zaken. Terug naar af. Minimal!!!

Er was echter nog weinig animo voor deze muziekstroming. Samen met een aantal kompanen besluit Gijs underground feesten te gaan organiseren om zo het publiek kennis te laten maken met deze stijl. Onder de naam Minimal Eindhoven zijn zij reeds ruime tijd actief met het geven van een aantal succesvolle feesten welke door Nederland aanslaan en zo bekendheid verwerven.

Doormiddel van de Rechter in Eindhoven werd het mogelijk om ook het publiek dat niet thuis was in de "undergound scene" te laten luisteren naar de muziek waarvoor Minidell staat.

Momenteel volledig overgegeven aan deze stijl worden er regelmatig feesten georganiseerd, en draait Minidell regelmatig op diverse plekken in Nederland en België.

"De Nederlandse "Minimal scene" is een kleine (steeds groter wordende) hele hechte groep mensen, waardoor de sfeer op feesten vaak als intens beschreven kan worden. En daar gaat het om!
